Agriculture is important because it is the Filipinos’ main employment and everyone are engaged in it, even children. Most of Filipinos should be wealthy with the use of our agriculture.

“SEED QUALITY AND SELECTION

Good quality seed can increase yields by 5-20%.Choosing seed of a suitable variety of rice that suits the environment it will be grown in and ensuring the seed choosen of that variety is of the highest possible quality is the essential first step in rice production.

“LAND PREPARATION”

The farmer is using hand tractor to ensure that the rice field is ready for planting.Land preparation involves plowing and harrowing to ‘till’ or dig-up, mix and level the soil

“CROP ESTABLISHMENT”

The two main practices of establishing rice plants are transplanting and direct seeding.Farmers have two options;Seedlings may be transplanted by either machine or hand.

“WATER USE AND MANAGEMENT”

To ensure sufficient water, most rice farmers aim to maintain flooded conditions in their field. They use irrigation or water pump.

“DIFFUSION OF FERTILIZER”

Rice farmers using fertilizer to improves plant growth and nutrient uptake and limits nutrient losses.

“WAIT UNTIL 3 MONTHS”

Generally, the ideal harvest time lies between 130 and 136 days after sowing for late, 113 and 125 for medium, and 110 days for early-maturing varieties.

“READY TO HARVEST”

For dry season harvesting, rice Farmers have an optimum time is 28 to 35 days after heading.

“HARVEST TIME”

Harvesting can be done manually or mechanically. Nowadays our farmers choose the mechanical harvesting to fast the work done, and it allowed farmers to quickly clear tracts, break up the soil, remove the grass and prepare the ground for cultivation

Breakfast at my House

During the week we’re often walking out the door with a coffee in one hand and slice of toast in the other, but on weekends breakfast is never rushed. It’s a late affair, sometimes spilling over to lunch, with lots of reading and chatter in between courses of fruits, poached eggs, honey and toast. One of our favorite things we like to serve when friends are visiting are buckwheat blueberry pancakes.
